Many insurers offer a premium reduction for new drivers who complete driver training, and the Pennsylvania Insurance Department's advice to parents is simply to ask whether yours does. The exact saving depends on your insurer, but for a new driver it can be meaningful.

What the certificate is
It's documentation that you completed formal behind-the-wheel driver training. Insurers use it as evidence of lower risk — a trained driver is statistically less likely to file a claim — and many reward that with a discount.
Who typically qualifies for a discount
- New and teen drivers who complete driver education, where the insurer offers a driver-training discount.
- Students with good grades, where the insurer offers a good-student discount.
- Drivers 55 and older: Pennsylvania requires insurers to take at least 5% off each vehicle on a policy whose named insureds are all 55 or older and have completed a PennDOT-approved mature driver improvement course, retaken every three years to keep the discount.
How to claim it
Finish your lessons, collect your insurance-discount certificate from us, and send it to your insurance agent or upload it through your insurer's portal. Ask specifically about their driver-training or driver-education discount and how long it applies.
